I am actually in the opening titles as the series was filmed at Lee Electric Studio, on Kensall Road where my father was Company Secretary . I have a full collection of genuine stills photographs that graced the bar walls. Mr Corbett was the nicest man & always let me play around on the set.I was only 5-6 when they first started filming there.
Then Ken Russell turned up with the "Tommy " project & for a while my regular visits to work with Daddy( Billy - William Walter Wallace ) were shortered and helping " Margie" in the bar was also on hold for a while.

All the people I met only one so called * was a disapointment. David Essex....he thought he was so cool he did not have to pay for
or his drinks.

Unfortunately I am now a lot older (51), and have become disabled. Is there any value to this collection which I may part with to enable me to purchase a motorised wheelchair ?

No problem Tony, you might hear it also referred to as "telerecording". Once my time machine has finished being built I'm not going to use it to stop the wars or anything, I'm taking my dvd recorder to record all those missing Steptoe clips... that's far more important!!

Tony, "My old man's a tory" is what we call a "Kinescope" copy - they were made at the time of broadcast by yes, putting a camera to a screen, though a specific type of camera as those old CRTs didn't film. It is thanks to Kinescope that we have many live broadcasts still in existence, without them many classics would not be in existence today

No, I am not related to that Phillip Glass, however I have done my share of composing, but to much less success!!! But if the PRS ever want to mix us up and send me his royalty cheques I'll be happy to accept them!!

hey Phil, you any relation to the composer? when watching my old man`s a tory it looks as though it has been filmed off a tv screen with a home movie camera. it also has a line that moves from the bottom of screen to the top, something that was common with monochrome tv broadcasts of the time. another reason i say this is that the other 60s steptoes have hairs and scratch marks in evidence, where as tory doesn`t. has anybody else noticed this?
