In 1994 Ray Galton & Alan Simpson, the writers of Steptoe & Son kindly gave the society an exclusive interview.
During the interview there was an unexpected surprise, Four of the remaining Lost Steptoe recordings were found
in Ray Galtons basement! Although in Black & White, all the Lost Steptoe recordings are now in the BBC archives.
This is a very enjoyable interview with Ray & Alan telling the whole story of Steptoe & Son.
Aspects of the interview includes :
How Steptoe & Son started.
How Wilfrid Brambell & Harry.H.Corbett were chosen for the parts of Albert & Harold.
Other possible actors to play the parts of Albert & Harold if Wilfrid or Harry declined.
They talk about the sets and the hiring of the props from a local antique store.
A visit to Ray's basement to see the lost Steptoe recordings that were found on the day!
Preparations and rehearsal techniques prior to episode recordings.
What film did you prefer? Alan thought the second film was the best!
Plus many more interesting facts and stories.
Our many thanks to Ray Galton, Alan Simpson, Tessa Le Bars and The BBC..
Our thanks also to Steve Cosgrove the interviewer.
